Kingdom Kids

The primary and Early Education department of Lighthouse Full Life Center Church is generally open for all scheduled services. Each of the three class rooms are divided age appropriately and staffed by individuals who have met guidelines to include; active participation in worship services and bible study, profession of salvation and passion for teaching our early learners.

Classroom 1
Noah’s Ark-Kim Jackson Ages 8 weeks-3yrs.

This space is designed for our early learners. With adequate crawl space and age appropriate toys, these babies are nurtured into a tender relationship with Jesus Christ. Developmental learning opportunities are met with visually stimulating play that utilizes fine and gross motor skills. Each child MUST be signed in and picked up by a parent or guardian. The nursery is available during any scheduled service time. Parents are asked to pick up their children immediately following service.

Children of the Light-Carmen Smith Ages 4-7
This interactive group channels the energy and excitement of academically and socially, to structured opportunities for growth and development. Balancing cutting edge biblical curriculum and relevant practical ideas, this hands on classroom is an exciting group to watch.

Virtue and Valor University

Peer pressure is a strong influence in the lives of our children as they are faced with many decisions. Our desire is that the voice of Lord, through the Word of God, becomes a strong variable in those choices. Reinforcing a healthy relationship with Christ, their parents and peers, these classes search the scriptures to identify character, leadership and concepts that are characteristic of those that desire to be led by Christ.

Classroom 4 Lighthouse Allstars - Israel Aususa Jr. Ages 8-11 Boys

This classroom takes place in a locker room setting and emphasizes the value of teamwork, cooperation, appropriate conflict resolution and positive associations. As a team, they proclaim a pledge of growing into a Godly young man, being responsible for actions and choices. These young men are encouraged to live out this pledge in their family with their parents and siblings, in their school with their peers and teachers and in their community. Their bible curriculum consist of a animated walk through the word identifying key concepts, scriptures and individuals.

Classroom 5 Lighthouse Princess’s – Melisah Ausua Ages 8-11 Girls

Taking the dainty and making it divine, this classroom searches the scripture to find God’s truth as they grow into the purposed lady as God designed her. Supporting their uniqueness as wonderfully created individuals, they look for God’s answer to everyday questions. A work in progress, and using the scripture as a guide, these ladies transform their classroom by contrasting the world’s idea of beauty to what they identify as beautiful (inside and out).

Classroom 6 Lighthouse MVP - Israel and Melisha Ausua Ages 12-14

This group challenges the world's concept of being a “baller”. The name was chosen by the youth who insisted they understood what a “baller” would actually be in the kingdom of God. While the youth suggest their peers are throwing caution to the wind as they strive to gain popularity and prosperity to achieve “baller” status, they set out to redefine this term and own the status according to a different standard. This classroom’s definition evolved to describe a “baller” as someone who has a relationship with Christ and who is walking according to the word of God. Conversely, they identified a “worldly baller” as someone who ignored God’s command and pursued the wealth of this world at all cost. Convinced that they could reach their peers with the Word of God, this group uses a variety of hands on and discussion style meetings to explore biblical truths. While facilitated by adult leaders, and guided by a curriculum, this group is invited to “keep it real” and make Godly choices regarding tough daily dilemmas.

Classroom 7 Youth in Action - Israel and Melisha Ausua Ages 15-17

This group is walking out the word that they have learned previously. Ideally, using each prior classroom experience as a stepping stone, this group should have a powerful understanding of who they were created to be in Christ, a general understanding of Old and New Testament and reference scriptures that can help them contemplate life choices. Focusing on Practical application and clarifying any questions these young adults may have, they are asked to apply the word, understand the plan of salvation and know key scriptures that they can share. In addition to classroom activities, these youth produce and create a youth talk show called Holla' Back!

College Ministry

Ideally, this outreach effort was designed for both members of Lighthouse as well as college students who are away from home. College students are invited to attend regularly scheduled ministry services where they are fed the meat of the word. Afterwards, our hospitality ministry provides hot, home cooked meals. If neccesary, the transportation ministry coordinates pick up and drop off times to be sure the students travel safely to and from campus. Outside of regularly schedule services, the Full Life Education Coach assist with campus needs and referrals including career choices, financial aid referrals and suggestions for academic success. As appropriate, the single or married ministry provides opportunities for fellowship.
Annual campus ministry events include “House Party”, “ Battle of the Worship Bands” and “Faith Olympics”.

5 Star Approach

5 Star Ministry of Excellence

We endeavor to be a Ministry of Excellence. While Pastor Marvin has detailed the 5 year plan according to the God given vision for this house, we must assess our progress towards those goals. This must be done simultaneously while empowering members (Full Life Coaches) and fulfilling ministry objectives (5 Star Team).

Why Five Star?

Several years ago, Pastor Marvin read a book entitled, “The Five Star Church”. One statement resonated with Pastor Marvin. This statement, “The only difference between a five star hotel and a motel was service. They each offered a bed and t.v., yet one offered additional amenities that emphasized service. This concept along with those outlined in a book entitled “Servant Leader” pricked his heart and initiated a prayer that would ask God to help him keep the ministry “service driven” meeting the needs of the family of faith and community at large. Further, he recognized that if the church operated as it was intended in scripture, his prayer would be answered. To that end, and endeavoring to be held accountable, he developed the Five Star Team. This team is a cross section of the congregation and each team member is appointed as God leads. They each bring specific skills and abilities and help s ensure that each ministry is held accountable in the spirit of excellence and service.

How do we assess if we are a ministry of service and excellence?

In short, we will be assessing what should be done, what has been done, and what can be done. Specifically, we will ask the following questions focusing on ministries, facilities and membership needs.

Where should we be?

The basis for answering this question is our church purpose and God's design for the church. This is a reflection of our potential, not our current reality. We are stating what our priorities ought to be. In light of God's purpose and design for our church, zero in on what ministry we should be doing to accomplish God's purpose and the resources we will need to do it. Resources will include the right people with the gifts, abilities, passions, experience, and maturity for the various ministries, finances for possible salaries, training, and materials, and facilities that are the right size, decor, and location.

Where have we been?

Given our short existence this question will have a short reply. However, next year we will be looking at where we begin today. We will look at what has worked and what can be done better.

Where are we now?

List our current ministries and their effectiveness in fulfilling God's purpose and design for our church. Examine the adequacy of current resources to do the ministries we have listed. We should gather both quantifiable and qualitative data. Quantifiable data could include attendance, growth rate, giving, and level of participation. Qualitative data could include how people feel about the ministry of the church, the effectiveness of our present programs, testimonials about effectiveness, level of spiritual growth and the climate of the house.

Where will we be if we keep going as we are now?

Here we are projecting ahead to what will happen if we make no significant changes in our ministry. We will be faced with accepting whether or not we are satisfied with this forecast (i.e. the rate of growth it will bring, how well needs will be met, how close we will come to the realization of God's purposes and priorities for us). If we are satisfied, we can stop the assessment. However, it is likely we will see the need for improvement. We will want to press onward and ask the final question.

Where will we go from here?

In the final stages of needs assessment we will draft a proposal based on our findings. We will suggest goals that will enable us to better meet the needs which surfaced through the assessment. We will also recommend strategies to accomplish those goals. This could include the initiation of new ministries. It may involve the reassignment of volunteer workers. Workers need to be fit into ministries suitable to their spiritual gifts, passions, and personalities.

After we have asked and answered these questions, the assessment process is completed for now. However, quarterly and annual assessments will keep us progressing toward God's potential for our church.

While the assessment may have reached its end, the process for resultant change and growth has not. The conclusions of the assessment must be communicated and goals must be implemented. A means of following up on progress must be put in place.

What is a ministry needs assessment?

The assessment is a means of discerning if the church's ministry is on track with God's purposes and design for the church.

Is there a biblical basis for such evaluation?

Proverbs 14:8 - "The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways ..."

Proverbs 24:3-6 - "By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures. A wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases strength; for waging war you need guidance, and for victory many advisors."

Luke 14:28-32 - "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, ... Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Will he not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? ... "

Generally, when we think of education we tend to limit it to formal education that occurs in a school setting. However, education occurs in a variety of ways and in numerous settings. Education allows us to learn new skills, strengthen existing behaviors or change those that no longer fit our purpose. Since formal education is a large part of our early life, we either develop a healthy attitude towards education because we were successful or we develop and unhealthy attitude because it was challenging. This can influence our life choices significantly and possibly discourage us from pursuing our purpose. Not only will we identify learning styles (how we learn best) we will access opportunities to facilitate our life goals and purpose.

Ministry Profiling

In doing a ministry assessment we will determine what ministries need to be functioning in order for us to accomplish God's purpose and for our church. The next step is to determine the people resources needed for these ministries and to match individuals according to their passion, purpose and personality.

I will facilitate helping each member find their place in the body To effectively accomplish the tasks or positions within the ministry, people should have the right gifts, heart passions, and personality. Their experience and walk with God would also be factors to consider.

While each Chief Ministry Servant will play a significant role in staffing needs, the Pastor will greatly facilitate this process. The Pastors have an awareness of the big picture to help prevent people from being overused (overcommitted to numerous ministries) or misused (used in an area that does not fit their gifts/abilities or the needs of the ministry). The Pastor would be responsible for matching the right person to the right task. That is done through ministry profiling.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

God wants all of who you are to go into loving and serving Him. To find your best fit in ministry, put all of who you are into all of who He is.

Your life is like a puzzle. The pieces fit together to make a whole. When you combine your spiritual gifts, personality, passions, and experience you will discover a picture which shows you how you can best serve the Lord with maximum effectiveness. ----YOUR MINISTRY PROFILE!

Each part of who you are affects the other parts and contributes to how God wants to use you. Here is what each part contributes to the way you will serve:

Your walk motivates you for ministry.
Your spiritual gifts enable you for ministry.
Your passions give focus to ministry.
Your personality expresses itself in ministry.
Your experiences help develop you for ministry.

Walk with God: motivates you for ministry

Essential to the proper outworking of your ministry profile is a growing, close walk with God. Spiritual gifts, personality, heart passions, and experience blend together to yield a greater effectiveness in serving God, but they will only take you so far if they are not under the constant refining work of the Spirit of God.

Spiritual Gifts: your enablement for ministry

Spiritual gifts are a special divine empowerment to do what God wants you to do. They point you in the direction of the ministry area(s) in which you should be involved. As you consider your passions, personality, and experience in combination with your gifts, you will know which tasks to zero in on within those areas and the people to whom you should minister. To illustrate how spiritual gifts work in combination with all of who we are, think about the gift of teaching. Some people will say they have a gift to teach children. Their spiritual gift is teaching, not teaching children. No where in Scripture does God categorize gifts according to age levels, gender, or other distinctions within which they operate. Someone with the gift of teaching could teach any age if gifting was the only factor. The bent toward children comes from the person's passions and past experience. Certain personality temperaments do better with children than others.

To find your best fit in ministry, begin by discovering how you are gifted but go beyond to factor in your passions, personality, and experience.

From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
(Eph. 4:16)

Written in the context of spiritual gifting, Ephesians 4:16 lets us know that every Christian has a part in the church which will be instrumental to the growth of the Body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:7 says, "Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good."

Since there is a limit on the time we can serve, we need to look for maximum effectiveness. Structuring our ministries around our spiritual gifts will help us do that. Knowing where we are gifted will help us know where to put our focus, energy, and time. It will show us where we should plug into ministry. But, the use of our spiritual gifts must follow God's design for the church, God's own character, God's principles in His Word and, the use of our spiritual gifts must be exercised in His power by His grace.

Helping Ministries Overview

Plans fail for lack of counsel,but with many advisers they succeed.
(Prov. 15:22)

We are called to come along side of one another. Counseling is one of the ways to do that. God will use us to help others succeed in their way, to walk according to His ways. Let us remember, however, that the ultimate counselor in a person's life is the Spirit of God.
(Jn. 14:16, 26).

But, some may say, why a counselor? If the Body of Christ is functioning as it should, are counselors really necessary? Undoubtedly a large portion of professional counseling could be eliminated if the church was committed to living out the 'one another' commands of Scripture.

. . . admonish one another . . . bear one another's burdens . . . build up one another . . . care for one another . . . comfort one another . . . confess faults to one another . . . encourage one another . . . spur one another on

Surely, in this kind of dynamic atmosphere, healing and change would occur. People would find the church to be a safe place, among those who accept one another. According to Titus 2:11-12, it is grace that "teaches us to say 'no' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age."

In an effort to facilitate healthy minds, the Mind Matters concept is two fold, one is being proactive in preparing healthy minds and the other is reactive, ensuring that there is ongoing opportunities to become healthy through groups, seminars and support services and also to work with M.I.T candidates and C.M.S in providing basic support. Having a trained group of ministry leaders as well as addressing individual member needs is crucial to the health of the body.

Consistent with the Vision of the church as outlined by the Senior Pastor, the goal is not to enable but to equip. To that end, the following sessions will be offered within the first year and offerings will be expanded as needs dictate;

Good Reasons to Help People in Need:
It's a part of making disciples.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
(Matt. 28:19-20)

It's a way to show love.

Love your neighbor as yourself. (Matt. 22:39) -- My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. (Jn. 15:12-13) -- Serve one another in love. (Gal. 5:13)

It's what body life is all about.

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. (1 Cor. 12:26) -- Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. (Rom. 12:15) -- Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Gal. 6:2)

It's a reflection of the character of our Lord Jesus.

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Mk. 10:45) -- Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. (Phil. 2:4-5)

Who should help:

All believers are called to come alongside of other people to help in time of need.

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (Gal. 6:10) -- And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. (Heb. 13:16)

Yet, there will be those who, by virtue of their spiritual gifting, should focus their time, energy, and resources into helping ministries above and beyond that of other believers.

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working but the same God works all of them in all men. (1 Cor. 12:4-6)

Those with the gift of exhortation, for example, may be suited for counseling and support groups. Those with the gift of mercy may find themselves comforting those who grieve and providing relief assistance. Those with the gift of service may find themselves assisting people with their physical needs. Those with the gift of giving may provide finances or material goods to assist those with physical needs or to help in time of crisis

Some people may not have the primary helping gifts but may nonetheless have a passion toward these areas or toward people in need. They could fulfill leadership or administrative roles within these ministries. They could be teaching and training others to do the work. They could be praying for the ministry. These believers may not be in regular contact with the people in need but still hold integral roles in ministry to them.
